Wellness Promotion
Nursing care spans health education, disease prevention, acute illness management, rehabilitation, management of chronic health conditions, comfort care, and end-of-life care. From sickness to health, the nurse’s goal is to promote patients to their highest form of wellness.
Promoting wellness at the bedside
BSN-prepared nurses utilize their clinical expertise and leadership skills to promote wellness at the bedside. Bedside nurses care for patients during acute illnesses and develop a plan to promote wellness through education and disease management. There is a wide variety of specialty areas and patient populations nurses care for. No matter the population or specialty, BSN-prepared nurses are managers of care, advocates for their patients, and leaders who connect patients with the resources they need.
Promoting wellness in the community
BSN-prepared nurses are equipped with the knowledge and skills to promote wellness in the community. Nurses promote wellness and healthy behaviors to multiple populations by providing health education, screenings, conducting research, providing access to health resources, and informing policy makers of healthcare disparities. Vulnerable populations and the general public both benefit from the work of nurses in the community.
